CFP: Association for Practical and Professional Ethics

Published on 9/4/2019

The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) is a multidisciplinary, international organization advancing scholarship, education, and practice in practical and professional ethics. We facilitate and support collaboration among scholars and teachers, business and government leaders, and professionals from all areas concerned with the practical application of ethics and values.

Call for Proposals

This call is an invitation for individuals from all disciplines and professions interested in advancing scholarship, teaching and a general understanding of practical and professional ethics. Submissions are invited on ethical issues within and cutting across disciplines (including business, engineering, government, media, law, or science and technology), and professions (including biomedicine, research integrity, education, environmental sciences, and public health).

We are also pleased to announce a special call inviting proposals that explore ethical concerns related specifically to Georgia’s anti-abortion law, and more generally to individual and collective responses to social and political injustices.  We are especially interested in proposals that focus on the following:

  • exercises of conscience-objections in the context of professional roles and public policymaking,
  • the ethics of boycotts and other individual and collective responses,
  • approaches to resolving disagreements about fundamental legal rights and liberties, and historical, social, and political influences on current legislative trends.

Submission Categories:

We invite submissions in the following categories: 1) Individual presentations; 2) Case studies; 3) Pedagogical demonstrations; 4) Creative arts; 5) Posters; 6) Panel discussions; 7) Author meets critics; 8) Breakfast with an author; 9) Pecha Kucha/Rapid fire session; 10) Graduate student Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition; 11) Paper competitions and awards.
